Michael Odula Memorial Forest
In Honor of a Great Man
In June 2019, Rusinga community launched Michael Odula Memorial Forest in honour of the Late Global environmentalist, a Global 500 Laureate (1990). This was done in recognition of his outstanding work in the field of environmental conservation and education in Rusinga and beyond. Mr. Odula passed on in February, 2019. The forest is situated right inside Tom Mboya High School where the late was a teacher for many years. Mr. Odula received a number of awards and honors in recognition of his invaluable contributions to support of Mother Nature. Some of these include UNESCO Fellowship, (1988), UNEP Global 500 Award of honour June 1990, featured in WHO IS WHO in the world of environment, published by the vision link foundation, North Carolina, USA 1991, featured in THE RHINO MAN and other world environmentalists by Rhino Global Education, co-authored by Elizabeth Lee and Carthy from population reference bureau  in Washington DC 1991, featured in who is who and does what in environmental conservation by Foundation for environmental conservation, Geneva, Switzerland 1995 among others.
